Homi Jehangir Bhabha, known as the father of the Indian nuclear programme, was born on October 30, 1909, in Bombay. He founded the country's top nuclear research institutes, including the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).In 1954, Bhabha founded a nuclear research center at Trombay which was later renamed the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).
